Work-Study Positions in Lauder

Lauder College House Office Assistant Position AY 23- 24                                                            

LCH Office Assistants are responsible for administrative support in the Lauder House Office. Aside from the shared responsibilities below, Office Assistants may be involved in special projects that promote socialization and community building within the College House. We are looking for Lauder College House residents with Work-Study grants and a desire to help create a community among their peers at their College House.

  • Provides administrative support in House Office, including answering phones, filing, posting flyers or other notices, and maintaining office presence after typical business hours
  • Serves as a courier between Lauder College House and campus offices, including College Houses and Academic Services central office
  • Completes tasks as assigned by House Coordinator and House Director. Tasks may include posting reservation schedules, updating dry erase board signs, posting flyers, taking pictures at events, tidying the workroom as needed, filing, sorting, or other paperwork
  • Manages equipment sign-out process; takes inventory of items during each shift and communicates with students regarding return of items
  • Maintains knowledge of technology in LCH reservable spaces, helps with set-up as needed for constituents reserving space
  • Assists with set up and clean up for house-wide events and at request of House Coordinator and House Director
  • Rotates monthly responsibility of creating bulletin board displays for first floor and decorating the house office, following a list of themes throughout the year
  • Communicates with other office staff members, RA/GRAs, faculty, House Coordinator and House Director to promote house activities and initiatives
  • Promotes LCH assessment and feedback initiatives
  • On occasion, the office assistant may be asked to do the following:
    • (1) Plan and implement social activities in the house, including late-night, weekend, and holiday events.
    • (2) Design initiatives to help students make social connections in the house, may include recognition & celebration efforts, brunch or dinner meet-ups, outings, craft night, movie night, cookie-baking.
    • (3) Design initiatives to promote space usage and reservation process in LCH, including 7th Floor Community Room, Living Room, Media Room.
    • (4) Seek feedback from students about program and activity ideas 
  • Office Assistants will work shifts in the House Office based on their availability. Shifts are between the hours of 9am-8pm Monday-Friday and 12pm-5pm Saturday & Sunday
  • Other duties as assigned

The LCH Social Media and Marketing Manager’s two main duties will be maintaining an online presence for our community through the use and maintenance of social media & promoting LCH events through the creation of promotional materials for Lauder College House including the weekly newsletter. While Social Media and Marketing will remain their primary focus, since the LCH Social Media and Marketing Managers will be working in the house office, they may expect to be trained on how to perform certain administrative tasks. In your cover letter, please note any experience you have in Graphic Design, Editing, Social Media Management and/or Photography.

  • Oversees house social networking accounts, which may include Facebook, Instagram, Tiktok, Snapchat, etc.
  • Creates and shares content via social media accounts that promotes student engagement with LCH
  • Designs and implements initiatives that support LCH social media 
  • Takes pictures at house events to maintain a photo archive for use on social media, house webpage, newsletter, and other outlets 
  • Develops publicity material to reflect LCH branding, mission, house initiatives, staff programming, and values in high and low-tech media. 
  • Creates weekly newsletter for LCH to send via email and provides weekly report on open rates 
  • Designs and maintains informational bulletin boards including those about our house partners including info center staff, housekeeping staff, and dining staff 
  • May be asked to edit video and audio content
  • Assists with graphic design projects as requested by the House Coordinator and House Director 
  • Remains up-to-date on software and hardware programs to support high-quality graphic design content 
  • Collaborates with other staff members to design and implement initiatives that support Lauder College House social media 
  • Communicates with other office staff members, RAGAs, faculty, House Coordinator and House Director to promote house activities and initiatives
  • Provides administrative support in House Office, including answering phones, filing, posting flyers or other notices, assisting residents who have come in with questions or concerns, managing equipment sign-out, and maintaining office presence after typical business hours
  • Completes tasks as assigned by House Coordinator and House Director. Tasks may include posting reservation schedules, updating dry erase board signs, posting flyers, taking pictures at events, tidying the workroom as needed, filing, sorting, or other paperwork
  • Managers must be able to work shifts in the house office. Shifts are between the hours of 9am-8pm Monday-Friday and 12pm-5pm Saturday & Sunday
  • Other duties as assigned

While the majority of our positions do not require prior experience and any work-study student living in Lauder College House is eligible to apply, those applying to the Social Media & Marketing Manager position with a demonstrated ability in photography, social media management, and/or using publication and design software including but not limited to: InDesign, Adobe Photoshop & Illustrator, any web design software, PowerPoint, Canva, Mailchimp, any video editing software, and/or any audio editing software will be favored.
