Ides of March/Death of Caesar

What:

On March 15, 44 BCE, the Roman dictator Julius Caesar was stabbed to death by a group of senators led by his friend, Marcus Brutus. For Brutus, at least, this was an act not taken lightly, but it was necessary if the Republic were to be saved.

Was this murder? Or political assassination? Can the actions of Brutus and his fellows be justified?

Come watch a (short) recreation of the circumstances of Caesar's death by Walter Cronkite's "You Are There" series, and meditate on these questions...

There will be special Roman snacks!
